Reflections

Assignment 1

• We found that finding the article for the first assignment is not that hard.  The findings gathered from the article that we chose has been very helpful in understanding the computer assisted language learning.

• After the summary of the article was done, we find ourselves more exposed to the appropriate methods in teaching language using the computer. We also learned how to handle audio system installed in the computer while using it to teach a language.

Assignment 2

• The time given to complete this assignment is longer making it possible for us to gather information as much as we can and to analyze the corpus within the given time.
• The internet helped us a lot in the process of completing the assignment as vast information can be found online.

Assignment 3

• We faced a few difficulties as the field of Forensic Linguistic is quite new therefore information is scarce as compared to other fields. We also faced difficulty in finding empirical studies on Forensic Linguistic due to the field being new and most of the empirical studies we found do not provide any findings as the findings are private and confidential.
• We hope that more information will be available in the future.
• The time given was very limited resulting in us not being able to give our best understanding of the subject. However, as the due date being postponed, we are able to present while having better understanding of the subject.

Overall Reflection

• We do admit we all blog but no academic writings can be found in any of our posts. Therefore with this particular blog we were able to use it in a more academic way that brings benefit to us and all those who feel that this blog is useful for them.
• No doubt the three graded assignments along with the none-graded ones plus the need to create and decorate this blog required a lot of our time. There were a few difficulties that we faced when completing the tasks given especially when it comes to deadlines but we were able to overcome it with strong cooperation from each member.
• The four of us have been good friends since 4-5 years ago and because of the assignments we were able to reconfirm our friendship in the sense that we have a big amount of tolerance and understanding between us. Each of us plays vital roles in making sure the assignments progress from time to time and remind each other of the tasks given.
• Tasks such as demonstrating to the class of “Forensic Linguistics”, a field that is unfamiliar to us is very challenging. But the new knowledge that we discovered gave us excitement and joy in learning something new. Besides “Forensic linguistics”, this course also allowed us to discover new fields of linguistics such as Computational Stylistics, the use of Concordancer and many others.
• We do think that the choice of blog for the E-Portfolio is very practical. In 3 to 4 years time we can still open the blog and refer to it. Besides that, with this opportunity given to us, we were able to learn more about blogging and managed to utilize technology in language learning.
• We find that the ‘reflection’ part in this course is the most significant. We could not recall any other course that allow us to reflect on our actions and abilities as students as a whole.
• Thank you to Dr. Rozina for providing this space for us to reflect upon ourselves, our ideas and to discover our own potentials. We were always required to stay within the margin and execute the tasks as they are required to but with the space to reflect on what we have done and executed, we can express our thoughts and feelings honestly and sincerely.
• We also sincerely thank Dr. Rozina for encouraging, assisting and inspiring us to create this blog; being very tolerant and understanding – giving second chances to us.
• Thank you to all the class members for paying attention to all our presentations and if not much, contributed to the blog. Good luck to all.
• The hours we have spent in creating this blog are certainly going to be a great memory for us. We will continue to update and post new and useful knowledge on the blog even after we have graduate so that many people can benefit from it. Insya-Allah.
